About CLEVERFOOD
Funded by the European Union, the CLEVERFOOD project engages all sectors of society in transforming Europe’s food system, in line with key EU initiatives such as the FOOD 2030 Policy Framework, the Farm to Fork Strategy, the EU Bioeconomy Strategy, the European Urban Initiatives, and the Fit for 55 Package.
Its goal is to build a fair, healthy, and sustainable food system by supporting projects, partnerships, and networks through a collaborative approach.
CLEVERFOOD is structured around three pillars — Policy Labs, Living Labs, and Pan-European Public Engagement — which help mobilise society and drive food system transformation, supported by the creation of the FOOD 2030 Networks.
Policy labs
Policy Labs develop innovative governance models and strategies to advance food-related policies and legislation.
This includes the peer-learning programme, a set of initiatives designed to strengthen food policy labs and councils by facilitating knowledge exchange, tackling shared challenges, and co-developing solutions for sustainable food system governance.
Public engagement toolkit
The FOOD 2030 Public Engagement Toolkit supports engagement and citizen science activities within Policy Labs and Living Labs.
It uses a variety of participatory methods and tools, including dialogue meetings, co-creation workshops, learning sessions, hackathons, science cafés, citizen platforms, transition arenas, and food policy councils, to enable public involvement and foster a deeper understanding of food system transformation.
